May 6

Remember to vote no May 6 on the KRESA (Kalamazoo Regional Educational Services Agency) tax increase and I'll tell you why. First, I know its a renewal but any tax that was supposed to be temporary, becomes a tax increase when its not allowed to expire. Second, until the teachers union (MEA) starts allowing all school districts to shop around for their own health care programs, they show everyday that they are not concerned about how they spend taxpayer dollars. The teachers union has its own health care system (MESSA) which it forces school districts to use along with inflated premiums. MESSA premiums average around $13,000 a year while virtually the same plan under Blue Shield would be between $8,000 and $9,000 a year.
